ConCreate USL LP

ConCreate USL LP is the culmination of more than four decades of growth and experience in restoration, infrastructure remediation and new construction.

We began our history in 1971 as Underground Services Ltd., a tunneling contractor located in Moncton, New Brunswick with a primary focus on building railway tunnels. Our expertise in restoration began with experiments using shotcrete to strengthen and repair concrete structures.

As demand for our remediation expertise grew, we expanded to offer services in Ontario under a new company, Underground Services (1983) Ltd. Although the business operated primarily as a sub-contractor, we began to accumulate equipment, expertise and experienced personnel, establishing ourselves as a full general contractor in 1986.

The 1990s saw continued growth across Canada as we opened branch offices in Calgary, Montreal and in Amherst New York.

Our expertise in the demanding field of concrete retrofit work expanded to new construction as we won contracts to build bridges, prestressed water reservoirs, bobsled and luge tracks and skateboard parks. In 1996 we also expanded our offer as foundation contractors providing a full slate of services including geo-technical expertise.

In 2007, we opened a new office and warehouse facility in Calgary, Alberta, expanding both its own technical staff and providing the Western Canadian construction market with a strong presence.

ConCreate USL LP now employs more than 400 people, many of whom started their professional careers with the company.

Our History

Early 1970s – A small tunneling contractor based in Moncton, NB begins experimenting with shotcrete as a way to strengthen and repair concrete structures.

Early 1980s – A growing number of customers become aware of the subcontractor’s repair techniques, and the company starts offering them in other parts of Canada, including in Ontario. The organization is officially named Underground Services (1983) Ltd., moves its headquarters to Ontario and ramps up its corporate infrastructure with new people and equipment.

1990s – The company graduates to full-fledged contractor status, opening branches in Calgary as ConCreate USL Ltd., in Montreal as Constructions ConCreate Ltee. and in Amherst, NY as Concrete Solutions Inc. In 1996, as customers begin clamouring for firms with geo-structural experience, Geo-Foundations Ltd., is already providing drilling, pressure grouting, anchoring, micropiles, ground support systems and other related technologies to a receptive Canadian construction industry.

Past 15 years – The group’s services expand from retrofit projects to new construction of bridges, post tension water reservoirs, skateboard parks and bobsled and luge tracks.

January 2007 – The USL Group of Companies amalgamates under the ConCreate USL Ltd. name. The powerhouse contractor opens a new office and warehouse facility in Crossfield, AB to accommodate the many technical staff added in the previous year, and to provide Western Canada with its unmatched construction and rehabilitation services expertise.

In January 2011 ConCreate USL Ltd. welcomed a new financial and operational partner; TriWest Capital Partners founded in 1998. TriWest is one of Canada's largest private equity firms and thus strengthens our access to financial and capital markets.

Today we operate as ConCreate USL Limited Partnership, and we remain 100% Canadian owned and operated.
